More than 90 years of tradition has earned El Hoyo with it´s typical Chicha, Chancho & Pipeño (Kind of wine, pork & another type of wine). This place has conserved tables as barricas and offers diffrent specialities such as: Pernil and Papas Cocidas (Ham & Mashed Potatoes), Carne mechada con Puré and the famous drink: Terremoto. Very near the hostel is located the Social Home for ex Sportsmen (Hogar Social del CĂrculo de Ex Deportistas Juan Ramsey). This “picada” has meals for $1.500 chilean pesos (3US$) that offers a diffrent chilean menu every day from monday to saturday. The bread with pebre, first entry and a main course for lunch. In the night some specialities like: chorillanas, pollo al cognac, sandwiches for a very convenient price and of course….very typical.
Also this place exhibits the chilean and world record of horse jump…..awesome!!

“La Piojera” is one of the most famous & popular bars in Santiago. Right next to Mercado Central and named after a President of Chile Arturo Alessandri Palma, who said “who brought me to this piojera”.
You can´t leave without trying the Terremoto (pipeño, fernet and pineapple icecream) and it´s replica. Only for people who love getting mixed with chilean culture.
